HD Hyundai OCI is a carbon black manufacturer, established in February, 2016, as a joint venture between HD Hyundai Oilbank, one of Korea's leading oil refining companies, and OCI, the largest carbon black company in Korea.

HD Hyundai Oilbank and OCI invested in HD Hyundai OCI with a ratio of 51 and 49 percent, respectively. Its plant is located on 95,000 square meters of land, close to the Daesan Plant of the HD Hyundai Oil Bank in the Chungnam Daesan Industrial Complex.

The carbon black company with the best competitiveness

HD Hyundai OCI began the construction of the carbon black plant with OCI’s latest technology in August, 2016 and launched the commercial operation in 2018.
Startup capacity was 100 KTPY and the plant was expanded to 150 KTPY in 2019.

HD Hyundai OCI has built a foundation for high-quality carbon black through a stable provisioning system of raw materials, such as HD Hyundai Oilbank's FCC slurry oil and Hyundai Steel's coal tar.
In addition, HD Hyundai OCI will become one of the best carbon black companies in the industry by incorporating HD Hyundai Oilbank's long experience in petrochemical plant operation with OCI's superior carbon black technology.

* Carbon black is manufactured from coal tar, which is a by-product of steelworks, and slurry oil,
which is a by-product of the advancement process of an oil refining company.
It is mainly used as raw material for tires, rubber, and ink.
